343 Industries took to the stage during Microsoft’s Xbox E3
2015 briefing to share the first footage of Halo 5: Guardians.
Cutscenes revealed that Master Chief has gone rogue, and
Spartan Locke is tasked with finding him. Both characters will be playable in
Halo 5: Guardians’ campaign, which will feature four-player co-op and span
three different worlds.
A new weapon was revealed during the demo, the Plasma
Caster, which allows players to shoot bolts of plasma that ricochet toward
enemies. Charging the weapon allows you to fire a stronger bolt that serves
like a proper sticky grenade.
A new melee ability was also revealed during the demo.
Presumably, players can launch themselves into the air and then down on
unsuspecting enemies for a rad takedown.
343 Industries ended their time on stage with a snippet of
gameplay from a new multiplayer mode: Warzone. This game type pits two teams of
12 players against each other, as well as AI-controlled opponents to fight for
possession over bases.
