News: New The Walking Dead Game in Development

The Walking Dead is about to get "escapified."

Team17, the developer behind hit indie title The Escapists, announced today that they are in the process of developing a new game titled The Escapists The Walking Dead.

The game is being created in an 8-bit style similar to its The Escapists predecessor. Players will take control of Rick Grimes, who is tasked with scouting for safe escape routes from each area, as well as managing dangerous tasks to keep the survivors alive.

"Team17 presented a creative plan to blend The Walking Dead into The Escapists..." President of Skybound Entertainment Daniel Murray said, "...and our response was simple. When do we get started?"

Fans of The Walking Dead graphic novels will be happy to hear that this new game will mirror the timeline of the comics. Each location

Team17 Managing Director Debbie Bestwick added, "With well over 600,000 units sold, the award-winning The Escapists is one of the hit indie titles of 2015. Masterminding your escape from prison is hard enough, but how can we make it harder? Zombies."

Murray calls this new game "a playful interpretation" that he believes "fans of great games in general will love."

The Escapists The Walking Dead is set for release in 2015 on Xbox One and PC.
